Rock faces and major routes

In the Annecy Mountains, there are rock faces and climbing spots wherever you look

There are lots of different settings for climbers, but always on limestone, like the Grande Jeanne in the Semnoz forest, the cliffs around Lake Annecy, the sun-drenched rocks of the Aravis mountains (Colombière and Rocher des Aravis), or the Ablon valley, a little wilderness amid Alpine pastures… There are plenty of equipped routes for all levels here. The most advanced climbers will also find some beautiful major climbing routes to explore, some of which are a whole expedition. Don’t hesitate to enquire at the guides bureau for an introductory session or to push out your limits in safe conditions. Quickdraws at the ready!

Bouldering spots

In the heart of the Aravis mountain range, discover the boulders of the Colombière and the Aravis pass.

Climb a boulder with no ropes or harness, stepping your way through the difficult sections, for an alternative climbing experience! Enthusiasts will particularly enjoy the Colombière boulders, a vast blockfield with more than 100 routes. And families will love the enchanting setting of the boulders at the Aravis pass.

Via ferrata

Midway between hiking and climbing, via ferrata will take you to the summits.

On a mountain itinerary on a rock face equipped with safety cables, you’ll experience the dizzying sensations of rock climbing but with technical installations – pedals, handles, rungs, ladders, rope bridges, beams, walkways and Nepalese bridges – that make the climb easier and more fun… the Annecy Mountains boast 4 via ferrata trails of different levels in terms of physical difficulty and exposure to vertical drops.
