A gem of a lake
Change of scene guaranteed

Thanks to protective measures taken over the last 50 years or more to take care of the lake and give it special attention, it is now the purest of all urban lakes in Europe. At an elevation of 447 metres, the lake is towered over by the majestic Tournette, a mountain that reaches to 2,351 metres. The lake’s atmosphere changes through the seasons, enhanced in every tone of blue you can think of. But you cannot catch it all in a single glimpse, because the lake also conceals some priceless treasures listed as UNESCO World Heritage, the palafittic sites (Prehistoric constructions on piles) near the banks. Clearly, this lake’s watchwords are “Pleasure, yes, but above all, protective mindfulness!”

Pearl of the Alps
A rich and varied region

Located in the northern French Alps, between the Bornes and Bauges mountain ranges, the undulating and fertile Albanais plain and the unspoilt Fillière region, Lake Annecy nestles amid a whole diversity of natural terrain ranging from lake to mountain and from river to plain… and Annecy has used to its advantage this combination of geographical features and historical events that have helped the town to flourish and become the pearl of the Alps.

Magical Annecy!

Among the towns of the French Alps, Annecy has one of the longest histories. As a listed Town of Art & History also recognised as a town in bloom, Annecy features no less than nine buildings awarded the “20th-century heritage” label. The Haute-Savoie prefecture is home to a charming old district with lots of canals, pedestrian streets, romantic arches, a castle and an island palace. The lake is right next to the town, which adds a charming touch to its reputation.
