Listed Historical Monument (I.S.M.H) From the top of the tower, discover the history of the castle and of Faverges town.

This year, you can have a look at the temporary exhibition in the staircase: “A thousand-year-old European dynasty: the royal House of Savoie”, with the portraits and biographies of 44 sovereigns.

You can climb the 145 steps leading to the panoramic gallery so as to discover the castle’s history which started in 1112, and that of its various owners, and to learn about its role: first as a place of power, then as a residence, as a place of industrial then social vocation and finally as a touristic site.

At the top, a Savoie Mont Blanc Heritage Guide answers your questions.

You can also admire a 360° view of the Bauges natural park’s mountains, of the Bornes mountains, Faverges valley and the surrounding villages.

Finally, you can finish your visit with the Butterflies and Insects’ Museum settled in one of the castle’s wings. This museum holds more than 5000 species including the whole diurnal fauna of the Bauges mountain range.
