A GUARANTEED CHANGE OF SCENE

A jewel of a lake
A GUARANTEED CHANGE OF SCENE

With protective efforts stretching back over 50 years, the lake is cosseted with loving attention, making it the purest urban lake in Europe. Lying at 447 metres above sea level, the lake is dominated by the majestic Tournette, whose peak rises to 2351 metres. The lake offers atmospheres that evolve through the seasons. A whole palette of blues is expressed in its waters. But not everything can be seen at first glance. The lake also hides prehistoric pile dwellings around its banks, treasures of incalculable value featuring on UNESCO’s world heritage list. The lake’s motto is clear: “Pleasure, yes, but respect and protection above all!”

The pearl of the Alps
A RICH AND VARIED TERRITORY

Located in the northern French Alps, between a mountainous area (the Bornes and Bauges massifs), the rolling fertile Albanais and the well-preserved Filière region, the territory of Annecy unites a wide variety of elements: lake, mountains, plains, rivers… Annecy has made the most of the combination of geographical assets and historical events that have enabled it to thrive and given it the title of pearl of the Alps.

ANNECY IS MAGICAL!

Of all the towns in the French Alps, Annecy has one of the longest histories. Labelled a City of Art and History and a City in Bloom, Annecy has no fewer than nine buildings recognised by the country’s 20th-Century Heritage label. Without a shadow of a doubt, the prefecture of the Haute-Savoie department has all the benefits of a charming old town with many canals, pedestrian streets, romantic arches, the castle and the Palais de l’Isle. Not to mention the famous lake. With protective efforts stretching back over 50 years, the lake is cosseted with loving attention, making it the purest lake in Europe. Lying at 447 metres above sea level, the lake is dominated by the majestic Tournette, whose peak rises to 2351 metres.
